In Paris with an American Huber!

At the Open GDF SUEZ tournament Andrea Hlavackova ended in a beginning of qualifications and she wanted to repair a mood in doubles. But her teammate Lucie Hradecka is ill and it seemed for a while that even Andrea will not be able to involve in the tournament in Paris. Eventually she will play doubles in France with Liezel Huber (USA), the 8th place in WTA ranking in doubles.

“Unfortunately, Lucka´s illness stopped us in trying to make a good result in Paris. I found out the fact that she cannot play two hours before the end of registration in doubles. So I almost didn´t hope that I would find someone convenient,” Andrea said.

But Spaniard Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez injured in the qualification and because of it Liezel Huber didn´t have any partner for doubles. “So we decided to make a team for this tournament. And for the first time we will play together and not against each other,” Andrea smiled. It is interesting that Czech pair H + H defeated Huber and Raymond at two major events in the last year in semifinals – firstly at the Olympic Games and then at WTA Championships.

A newly composed pair will play against other unusual pair in the first round – Petra Kvitova will play also doubles in Paris with Belgian Yanina Wickmayer. “It will be my debut at the WTA tour against Petra and I´m really looking forward to it. I haven´t seen Wickmayer in doubles yet, but it is strong pair and it´ll be an interesting match,” Andrea added.
