The first game of a new couple went great!

Andrea Hlavackova and Liezel Huber couldn´t wish a better start of Parisian cooperation. In the opening round of the doubles in Open GDF SUEZ tournament the second seeded pair defeated in unpredictable match Petra Kvitova (CZE) and Yanina Wickmayer (BEL) 7:6(6), 4:6, 10:1.

The Czech number one plays doubles rarely, but they find each other on the court with her Belgian partner soon. And so the spectators had an excellent fun. It was a game of twists and turns. The favourites led 5:4 and 40:0 in own service, but they lost three set points. Eventually Andrea and her American teammate achieved a victory of the first set in a tiebreak when they had to turn away three set points in score 3:6!

In the second set modified pair H + H led 3:0 and 4:1, but rivals pulled themselves together and brought a game in a super tiebreak. But the super tiebreak was been a show of pair, which was formed by 3rd and 8th player of the world in doubles. “The match was very good and it was against amazing players. Defeating Petra? It must please everyone,” Andrea smiled and added: “It was a really hard match with long rallies.”

In the quarterfinals on Thursday they will play against Liga Dekmeijere (LAT) and Stephanie Forets Gacon (FRA). “French is an experienced and Latvian can surprise by very hard service, so it will be very interesting and difficult game. We are getting used to each other with Liezel and it´s pretty fun,” Andrea added with a smile.
