Auckland: After elimination in singles advancing in doubles

Andrea Hlavackova lost the last singles match of the year 2013. In the first round of the ASB Classic tournament in Auckland Andrea was defeated by Venus Williams (USA) 3:6, 6:7 (1).

Andrea got into the main competition because of the wild card. “I am so thankful to them for this opportunity. I really like it here,” Andrea said after the second appearance in Auckland in her career. In January 2012 she lost in New Zealand with American Hampton in the first round of the qualification, but then she triumphed in doubles and started her amazing season.

This time the draw was not so nice. “But it belonged somehow to the year 2013,” Andrea smiled. “Given the fact that during the training I changed rocket and string I played quite well. I fought with hard draw. I was satisfied with my better movements-we worked on it very hard. The beginning of the match was affected by my caution during the services, because I have to still treat my belly muscle, but it does not excuse me. The positive thing is that nothing hurt me and so I can completely focus for doubles and training for Melbourne,” she added.

On New Year´s Eve Andrea managed together with a new doubles partner Lucie Safarova match in doubles, when they defeated a pair Natalie Grandin (RSA), Sandra Klemenschits (AUT) 6:4, 7:6 (3). “I am glad that the start with Lucie was successful. Moreover we are first seeded pair so we want to confirm by the good results,” she added. In the quarterfinals on the New Year couple H+Š will play against Sharon Fichman (CAN), Maria Sanchez (USA).
