Andrea managed sickness and qualifies in Australian Open 2014

Andrea Hlavackova is in the quarterfinals in doubles in the Australian Open 2014. Together with Lucie Safarova will play against third-seeded strong pair Ekateriina Makarova and Elena Vesnina after three victories in doubles. She won also in the mix when she traditionally is playing with Belarusian Max Mirnyi. In the round of 16 they will play against Julia Goerges (GER) and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi (PAK).

Both matches are on Tuesday night (CET) schedule. So Andrea will have another challenging day of play after Monday´s hustle and bustle in Melbourne. “I´m very glad that with Lucie we managed to get so far among the top eight in our first joint grand slam. With Max we also managed the first round of the mix, so I will repeat again two matches in a row, and I wish it would be the same day as Monday,” Andrea said it from Australia.

The start of grand slam was not easy at all for Andrea. She was sick and in a fever she was eliminated in the second round of qualification in singles. “Even the opening round of doubles I had a big disease. I was close to give up the match during 40°C temperature and with big disease. But fortunately I managed it in some kind of delirium and the very next game we played almost without any mistake. We even managed the round of 16 against the pair, which we didn´t know from doubles before. Now we will play against Makarova and Vesnina. I have never defeated them in this kind of composition of this pair. So we can play without any pressure and we will go at full blast,” she added.

On Monday evening several auctions finished which run on our website. “I would like to thank all those who were participating in these auctions. Money will be used for a good cause and I´m also glad that you still like these charitable projects. Once again thank you all,” Andrea said.
