Andrea is focusing on the tournament in Thailand

The second round of qualification in singles, quarterfinals in doubles and round of 16 in mix. This is evaluation of this year Australian Open for Andrea Hlavackova. “This time Melbourne was full of bad luck for me,” she said. Now she is going to play PTT Pattaya Open tournament in Thailand, where she got to the main competition.

“I was perfectly prepared for Australian Open. Unfortunately flu stopped me right after my first victory in singles qualification. The illness was continuing until the beginning of doubles. I went through the hell. I played in very warm weather with incredible fever. Then I started to feel better and with Lucie Safarova we got into the quarterfinals,” Andrea said.

Russian pair Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina had more luck in a wonderful match. Czech pair missed two match points in the decisive set at 5:4 during their service: “Unfortunately Lucie´s shoulder was in bad condition. We didn´t even know before this match if we would play or not. At the end it was unexpected marathon. Lucie played with great pain, but we got to match points.”

However opponents managed the key moments of the match better. “We were very disappointed. Playing of this hard match and getting to the match points is very amazing, but not to use this opportunity is very pity. Russian had also big luck,” Andrea said and added: “Still I evaluate very positively that on the second tournament, where we played with Lucie together, we got so far and even defeated so strong opponents. It is good result for Grand Slam for new pair. And mix? It was very nice and pleasant variety.”

At this moment Andrea is in Thailand where she is going to play PTT Pattaya Open tournament. In doubles she will play with Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues, 31st player of the WTA doubles ranking. “Then I will go back home. And if they nominate me for the Fed Cup to Sevilla, I will have another very nice duty. Then I decided to adapt on success in doubles and I will fly to the tournaments in Doha and Dubai with Lucie. After that the long period of tournaments in the U.S.,” Andrea added.
