First obstacle: Croatian Vekic

Andrea Hlavackova will play against Croatian Donna Vekic in the first round of the Australian Open in Melbourne. If she manages it she will play against winner from duel Caroline Wozniacki (DEN, 10) vs. Sabine Lisicki (GER).

Donna Vekic is at the 109th place in the WTA rankings, but beware! In her passport you can find the date of birth June, 28, 1996. So she will celebrate only seventeenth in the summer! The native of Osijek has a lot of behind herself – she won three ITF tournaments (Chiswick/2011, Fergana/2012, Bangalore/2012) and she was in the finals in the WTA tournament in Tashkent last year.

She came into last U.S. Open grand slam, where she finished in the 3rd round of qualification. The match with Andrea will be full of handsome women. But we can also expect tough battle, because young Croatian can play against Czech tennis players. She defeated last year Eva Birnerova and Karolina Pliskova.

“I´m very excited from the first round. For me it´s a completely new name on the tour, so it´s hard to predict what I can expect from the match. I suppose I could get on the court on Tuesday, in the meantime I will work hard in training,” Andrea said from Melbourne.
